To celebrate the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam, the Illustration Embassy invites you to explore the natural world of the Westerpark. In our shared workshop, which is located in the Meterhuis at the Westergas, you will get the opportunity to explore and visualize the animals and plants of the Westerpark together with illustrators, citizens of Amsterdam and other interested parties.

A big map, especially designed by Timor Vader for this occasion, is at the heart of the exhibition. During this event you can explore the biodiversity of the Westerpark and use illustrations to add your findings to this map. This way, the exhibition will continue to grow and together we will map the natural world of the Westerpark.

Timon Vader is an illustrator whose work explores the intersection of mysticism, absurdity and poetry. His art is populated by expressive characters, which are also brought to life outside the paper world of illustrations, on walls, ceramics, online and on many other surfaces. Vader uses his illustrations to tell stories that reflect the chaotic beauty of urban nature in order to link the urban natural world to the world of art.
