THE FUTURE OF FASHION

Een kritische blik op het mode- en kunstsysteem vereist een radicale benadering die de industrie uitdaagt, met name op het gebied van exclusiviteit, uitbuiting, kolonisatie en vervuiling. Er is een groeiende bewustwording door meer informatie over dit schadelijke systeem en steeds meer liefhebbers, makers, consumenten en organisaties eisen een verandering.

Er is al enige tijd behoefte bij nieuwe makers, ontwerpers, mode- en kunststudenten om dit systeem aan te pakken. Er is meer dan ooit een sterke verantwoordelijkheid nodig om ons open te stellen voor nieuwe perspectieven die worden genegeerd, ontkend en over het hoofd worden gezien. Dit vraagt om meer onderzoek, diepgang en samenwerking waarbij menselijkheid, gemeenschap en milieu de boventoon moet voeren.

Om die reden organiseren wij een open call, voor creatievelingen die zich op het overlappende gebied van mode en kunst bevinden. We zijn op zoek naar (inter)nationale mode-illustratoren met een onderzoekende, innovatieve, interdisciplinaire en/of reflexieve drijfveer, die hun werk willen tonen tijdens de tentoonstelling Future of Fashion and Art in het Meterhuisje op de Westergas in Amsterdam. Het resultaat van de tentoonstelling dient een inspiratie te zijn voor internationale mode-illustratoren, bedrijven, academies, consumenten en/of liefhebbers.

THE FUTURE OF FASHION

A critical look at the fashion and art system requires a radical approach that challenges the industry at its roots, especially in the areas of exclusivity, exploitation, colonization and pollution. More and more information is surfacing about this harmful system and more and more enthusiasts, makers, consumers and organizations are demanding a change.

For some time, there has been a need amongst new makers, designers, and fashion and art students to tackle this system. More than ever, a strong responsibility is needed to open up to new perspectives that are overlooked, ignored and denied. This requires more research, depth and collaboration in which humanity, community and the environment must take precedence.

That is why we are organizing an open call for creatives who are in the overlapping field of fashion and art. We are looking for (inter)national fashion illustrators with an investigative, innovative, interdisciplinary and/or reflexive drive, who want to show their work at the exhibition the Future of Fashion and Art in the Meterhuisje at the Westergas in Amsterdam. The result of the exhibition aims to be an inspiration for international fashion illustrators, companies, academies and consumers and/or enthusiasts.
